An atheist thinks about… Who Created God?

Native NYer, alumnus of the Lycée Français de New-York (1973) and Columbia College (1977), the undergraduate liberal arts college for (then) young men. I majored in Physics, got into Berkeley for Astrophysics, dropped out of Berkeley after 9 months to be an actor (ha!). Kicked around the small theater and local radio spot scene for 13 years. I turned to writing, wrote sketch comedy and short plays. One of them, English (It's Where the Words Are), got into the 1996 EST Marathon of One-Acts and was well reviewed by Mel Gussow (thanks, Mel!) in the NY Times. That brought me to Los Angeles where I took meetings for two years and was represented at Writers and Artists. I met my wife, Ellen Sandler, who was then a producer (i.e., writer) on Coach. We dated for three years and got married in 2000.
In addition to my two wonderful stepchildren, I now have two grandchildren! No, I'm not calling them stepgrandchildren or grandstepchildren. They are my grandchildren.

On my Android device (made by Google) I could effortlessly add an Exchange (i.e., work) calendar and see my personal and work calendars ON ONE SCREEN, as god intended. On Google Calendar (also, presumably, made by Google) you can not do this and must jump through all kinds of hoops with syncing apps or publishing […]

I just saw Fury Road with my stepson. He wanted to know about the George Miller oeuvre, so I suggested we watch the movie that spawned it all, the 1979 Mad Max. Very interesting to see the little hints that remain in the current movie, such as guys using high bendy poles to land on […]
A set of informal heuristics for winning at the “Bluff the Listener” game on Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me, the NPR News Quiz.
I first read an op-ed piece by Eric Kaplan in the New York Times, called What Role Do you Want to Play? I thought it was charming and funny. And he’s a writer on the Big Bang Theory, so that’s a hell of a credit. I went looking for his other writing, and found his […]
I assume that nobody reads this blog, so I don’t worry about making it entertaining (which pretty much guarantees that nobody will read it). So imagine my delight when I got an email offering me comments to curate! [not “curate”… what’s the word? There went my brain… I could feel it deliquesce…] It seemed to […]
